Transition from Avaya to Zoom Phones - Late 2023-Early 2024
Audience: Employees
If you are not employed by Virginia Tech Engineering and do not have a university phone, you can ignore this information.
The University is changing Phone systems.
Engineering Deans Office: Our ORG number is 034500 and our Service Manager is Jeanette Biczel - jbiczel@vt.edu
Other Engineering units: Contact your IT office to find out who is your service manager.
What do you need to do?
For Deanery Employees:
- If you believe you still have an Avaya Phone, check your email for a questionnaire link from Jeanette Biczel, our Phone Service Manager or contact her directly.
New Employees / New Phone Lines
Requests for new phones will be assigned Zoom Phone service, as Avaya is being phased out.

- If you currently have an Avaya Branded phone on your desk, it will no longer function after this change.
