How to Manage Team Members and Permissions in Microsoft Teams
Managing Team Members
- Open Microsoft Teams. Beside your Team name in the lefthand menu, click the three-dot icon indicating more options.→ Select “Manage team” from the pop-up menu.
- On this page, you can see the owners of the Team, along with all members and guests. Make sure that any potential student employees are designated as “Members” of the Team, not as “Owners,” by clicking the “role” dropdown menu on the righthand side of the user’s information row.→ Select “Member.”
Managing Member Permissions
- From the Team management page, click the “Settings” tab.
- Select the “Member permissions” expandable menu.
- In this menu, it is advisable to uncheck the boxes beside the following permissions: “Allow members to create private channels,” and “Allow members to delete and restore channels.”
Additional Notes
- Manage your Teams, share a Team with others, and add people to your Team from the search menu.
- Any Team or channel you create has a limit of 300,000 total files. The OneDrive computer app will very likely crash if this limit is exceeded.
